Designer Profile

My practice is dedicated to the design of harmonious, sustainable environments for the home and workplace. Working in close collaboration with my clients, I strive to create spaces infused with the qualities of beauty, comfort and functionality, appropriate to their time and place, and responsive to client needs, budgets ....and dreams.

Our projects range from large- to small-scale, whether remodeling and furnishing an entire home, or helping a client select art, accessorize a room, light a space, or create a color palette for the home.

Through my extensive network of resources – vendors, workshops, vintage and antique stores, art galleries and skilled craftsmen – I am able to offer clients access to quality furnishings and craftsmanship at every price point. When called for, I will enlist the expertise of specialized design professionals – such as an architect or garden designer – who bring value to the design team.

I established Margaret Bach Design in 2007, building upon my many years of involvement in the world of architecture, design, and historic preservation. I am well-versed in the history of decorative arts, design and architecture – a passion that I believe enriches and informs my work. Today, I bring this experience to the making of deeply personal interiors that express the aspirations of their owners.

In Santa Monica, a vintage bathroom receives an update, while maintaining its period charm.
In the entry, collections of vintage tile, pottery and metalwork greet visitors.
We enjoy using the best of classic, contemporary pieces in our projects -- a few examples of which are shown here.
